MMORPG: Crowd Control

Chapter 106 Secret Stairway

After getting called a toothless tiger by Griselda, Lei Zhen could only remain helpless.

He was indeed a powerless player that had some power in the royal family.

As soon as someone tried to assassinate him, then he might as well be a fish in the chopping board if no other guards came to assist him.

"Do you always tease people like this?" Lei Zhen asked, seemingly confused by her behavior.

She was a celebrity and from what he heard, she was supposedly a gentle and kind person in the eyes of the public. Maybe all of that was a facade and she was secretly wicked.

"I\'m not always like this, Lei Zhen." Griselda turned solemn and said.

And she continued, "I\'m only teasing you because I found it comfortable chatting with you without needing to think twice about my actions."

When Lei Zhen heard the solemn tone, he understood that she had a backstory of herself and didn\'t say anything else.

Sometime later, Griselda began sharing the information she gathered with Lei Zhen.

"The swamp of Lux Forest is a sticky place to be in, even when I\'m a tier 2 player. Unlike other games in which the stronger you are, the easier the beginning cities or countries will become, Magnolia functions in a different way." Griselda sighed softly.

"Magnolia world scales to the current highest player, meaning they\'ll always be a bit stronger than the top players, prompting them to not have evil thoughts of conquering a city. Therefore, the swamp is a difficult place to explore given its environment and natural monsters lurking."

"Is that all?" Lei Zhen asked once she finished explaining these. He might be new to Magnolia, but even he knew this basic information already.

"You are really a boring person," Griselda twitched her mouth.

With him being impatient, Griselda swiped her hand and revealed a hologram projection of the swamp on the table.

In the hologram, there listed information that wasn\'t even revealed to the public, including the Ministry of Defense that George had kept on file when he read them in Magnolia.

"How did you manage to gather all this information?" Lei Zhen was shocked as he clicked on one of the hologram images.

Instantly, details of the terrain and geographical structure were shown explicitly.

Griselda shrugged her shoulders. "When you have money, people will naturally work for you. Not to mention, I have people working under me to find this information. The driver that brought you here is my right-hand man, Samuel."

Lei Zhen didn\'t refute her words, mainly because they were the cold-hard truth.

Rich people do indeed have easier lives than common people.

"You can flex your wealth to someone else, but I\'m just confused. Couldn\'t you have just sent these hologram images or information to my phone instead? Why did you bring me here?" Lei Zhen asked.

He found this whole point of meeting up to be quite pointless and a waste of time.

Everything they had discussed so far could be said through a simple phone call and did not require all these extravagant methods.

"I know that. I just wanted to meet you in person and see for myself." Griselda calmly replied, seemingly unfazed by the glare from Lei Zhen.

"Since you\'ve seen my appearance, then please bring me back." Lei Zhen said, standing up and preparing to leave.

The living room might be fancy or even extravagant, to say the least, but it was uncomfortable for him.

Ever since he was booted out of the Lei Enterprise, he had stopped caring about such a lifestyle altogether.

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ With Lei Zhen adamant about leaving so quickly, Griselda was helpless and could only call for Simon.

After Samuel entered and brought Lei Zhen away, Griselda tilted her head slightly in confusion.

She glanced at the furniture around her and wondered if it was considered garbage in his eyes.

"I thought he would have been tempted to stay here longer, but who would have thought he was adamant to leave. It seems like some information is incorrect and needs to be edited." She muttered, heading back to her room where a MagnoPod was placed.

Within the MagnoPod, a Nutrient Solution could be seen labeled SS, something that wasn\'t even in the public market yet.

"Sigh, the SS Nutrient Solution is great, but it\'s so hard to get another one. Why did father only bring me one and not a batch?" Griselda lamented, entering the MagnoPod as she prepared to wait for Lei Zhen in Magnolia.

Time slowly passed by, and Lei Zhen finally returned to his apartment after Samuel dropped him off.

Glancing at the sky that doesn\'t seem to change much from the entrance of his door, it just goes to show how fast transportation has become.

The old era of airline companies where many delays or canceled flights occurred was something of history now.

Shaking his head, Lei Zhen turned the doorknob and entered, only to see the empty four corner walls.

Everything seemed to be old-fashioned including the furniture, and the lonely lifestyle that he had gotten used to for 10 years, a bitter smile appeared on his face.

"What a bittersweet life." He muttered, walking to his bed and going under the rack, pushing a button.

A "click" sound could be heard and a secret stairway was revealed, leading to some sort of basement.

Without hesitation, Lei Zhen walked down and turned on the light switch.

Instantly, a hologram could be seen with many pictures of people and their background information.

Among the many pictures on the hologram, two of them were Shan Zhikong and Shan Lin.

Ever since Tang Qiaolian told him that Shan Zhikong had become a major shareholder of the Lei Enterprise, Lei Zhen had marked him down in his list of targets.

Walking forward, Lei Zhen clicked on Shan Lin\'s profile and clenched his fist tightly. "Shan Lin, I hope you do not know anything so that we can remain best friends. Otherwise, this friendship of ours can be considered over and I will not let you off the hook either."

A ferocious expression could be seen on Lei Zhen\'s face, one that he had never shown to the public before.
